How to Sell Used Pallets to Us

If your business generates surplus pallets from incoming shipments, you have a valuable asset sitting on your dock or in your yard. Instead of paying for disposal or letting them take up space, sell them to SD Re Pallet and put money back in your pocket.

We buy used pallets in virtually every condition, from barely used Grade A pallets to broken and damaged pallets that still have salvageable wood. The process is simple: you tell us what you have, we make an offer, and we come pick them up. Most sellers have cash or a check within a few days of scheduling the pickup.

What We Buy: Conditions and Types

We buy pallets across the full condition spectrum. Here is a breakdown of what we purchase and how condition affects pricing.

Highest Value

Grade A Pallets

Pallets in excellent condition with all boards intact, no significant cracks, and tight dimensions. These pallets go directly back into our sales inventory with minimal processing. They command the highest per-unit purchase price.

  • - Standard GMA 48x40 most in demand
  • - No broken or missing boards
  • - Stringers in good condition
Good Value

Grade B & C Pallets

Pallets with some wear, minor damage, or cosmetic issues. These may need one or two board replacements or stringer repairs before re-entering service. We buy these at moderate pricing and put them through our repair program.

  • - Minor board damage acceptable
  • - Stringer repairs okay
  • - Must be structurally sound overall
Salvage Value

Broken & Damaged Pallets

Even severely damaged pallets have value. We dismantle them for usable boards, use the wood for repair parts, or grind it into mulch. While per-unit pricing is lower, we buy in volume and handle removal at no cost.

  • - Broken stringers accepted
  • - Multiple board damage okay
  • - Free removal for 50+ pallets

Pallet Types We Purchase

We buy all standard pallet types including GMA 48x40, 42x42, 48x48, 36x36, and most non-standard sizes. We purchase both stringer pallets and block pallets. We also buy plastic pallets in good condition. The only pallets we cannot accept are those contaminated with hazardous materials, chemicals, or biohazards.

Pricing Guide

Pallet purchase prices vary based on several factors. Understanding these factors helps set realistic expectations for what your pallets are worth.

Condition

The single biggest factor. Grade A pallets that need no repair are worth significantly more than damaged pallets that require dismantling. Clean, dry pallets in standard sizes fetch the best prices.

Size and Type

GMA 48x40 pallets are the most liquid and command the highest prices because demand is constant. Odd sizes and non-standard configurations have smaller buyer pools and lower prices.

Quantity

Larger quantities are more efficient for us to pick up and process, which means we can offer better per-unit pricing. Truckload quantities of 400 or more pallets earn the best rates.

Market Conditions

Pallet prices follow supply and demand cycles. Prices tend to be higher in Q4 when shipping volumes peak. Lumber commodity prices also influence the value of used pallets.

Pickup Scheduling

Once you accept our purchase offer, we schedule a pickup at your facility. We work around your dock schedule to avoid disrupting your operations. Our trucks carry their own forklifts and our crew handles all loading, so you do not need to provide equipment or labor.

For one-time pickups, we typically schedule within 2-3 business days of agreement. For businesses that generate used pallets on an ongoing basis, we set up recurring pickup schedules. Weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly pickups keep your dock clear and provide a steady revenue stream from your surplus pallets.

For businesses generating 50 or more pallets per month, our free pallet removal service may be a better fit, especially if your pallets are a mix of sellable and disposable conditions. And for high-volume operations, our pallet management program provides comprehensive on-site sorting, tracking, and pickup coordination.

Pallet Buyback Price Ranges by Grade

Pricing varies by condition, size, quantity, and current market demand. The table below shows typical purchase price ranges for 48x40 GMA pallets, our most commonly traded size.

What We Do Not Buy

While we accept pallets in nearly every condition, there are certain materials we cannot purchase.

  • Wood packaging exposed to medical waste or biohazards
  • Pallets with methyl bromide (MB) treatment stamps
  • Completely disintegrated pallets with no salvageable lumber
  • Pallets containing non-wood materials like concrete blocks or metal frames

If your pallets fall into a gray area, contact us. We evaluate case-by-case and can often find a solution.
